10. What is DUPR Reliability?
DUPR has a Reliability indicator that specifies, in percentage terms, the confidence that DUPR has in the accuracy of the cited rating for a player.
In the following snippet of a player's DUPR performance page, you can see this person currently has a Doubles DUPR rating of 5.015 and a Reliability indicator of 74 out of 100. So DUPR has 74% confidence in the 5.015 rating.

NPC requires a member's DUPR rating to have a Reliability of at least 80%, if the member wishes to use that DUPR rating as a basis for:
- modifying your club rating.
- the player would make a Rating Change Request in writing to NPC.
To boost your DUPR Reliability, do one or more of the following:
- play in DUPR games organized by NPC or another venue or club, as such club entered games will raise your DUPR reliability much faster than Recreational player-entered games,
- enter more games into DUPR -- recency of games also counts;
- play with a variety of players of similar skill level and
- play with others who already have a high DUPR Reliability.
11. Can I keep my current club rating?
Yes. NPC will not lower club ratings unless you specifically ask for a lower rating. This applies even if you have a lower DUPR rating than your current club level, because we are grandfathering (extending) previous club ratings in recognition of the skill level already achieved and used to earn that previous club rating.
12. Can I record game scores in DUPR myself, based on non-club play?
Yes, but DUPR only accepts scores if all game players have DUPR accounts and if these other players verify the entered scores. Please ensure all players agree to have that game’s scores entered into DUPR before the game starts.
For individual use, all players must verbally agree to record the score in the DUPR App. When the game finishes one player enters the score and the names of the players, and DUPR starts calculating the skill levels of all participants. (All players must already have a DUPR profile (account), and all players must verify the score when asked by DUPR.) Players will receive confirmation by email and the players must go to their DUPR account to verify the scores.
The more games you record in DUPR, the more accurate and more consistent your skill level rating.
DUPR's rating algorithm considers several factors to calculate a skill level. Factors include how many points your team scored in a game, the ratings of your partner and opponents, whether you won or lost, and whether it was a recreational game score or a more competitive club, league or tournament score.
13. Can any CLUB PLAY game scores be entered into DUPR?
Yes. Club play sessions CAN be entered into DUPR if it is not a DUPR session as long as it is agreed by all players before the match to enter the scores in DUPR. DUPR games tend to be competitive, like a tournament game, and some members do not want this for regular play.
14. What are Types of DUPR Competitions?
Different types of matches count more towards your rating. For example, recreational matches have less of an impact on your rating, while DUPR club matches and director uploaded tournaments have more of an impact.
15. When is your DUPR rating updated?
Your rating updates automatically every time a match result is shared with DUPR. Every type of match - club, tournament, league and recreational - can count for your rating.
DUPR NPC club matches and tournament matches from our partners have the most impact on your rating. Recreational matches may be added manually using DUPR’s “Add a Match” feature. All players must validate the score for it to take effect. Recreational matches have less of an impact on your rating. DUPR takes player integrity very seriously and will penalize community members who report false information.
16. How does the Doubles rating work?
DUPR released an update to the DUPR algorithm July 9, 2025. Ratings are now adjust based on a player’s performance compared to the expected score.
DUPR uses individual player ratings to calculate a team rating—the average of each player’s DUPR. These team ratings are then used to determine the expected score of the match.
If your team scores more points than expected, your rating goes up. If your team scores fewer points than expected, your rating goes down.
Each player’s rating adjustment depends on the number of matches they’ve played and how recent those matches are.
Play regularly to keep your rating dynamic and reflective of your current skill!
So while a win may earn you a trophy, a better seed, or advancement in a tournament, it doesn’t always mean your rating should go up. If you scored fewer points than expected, that’s a signal you underperformed relative to your current rating, and we adjust accordingly. The reverse is also true: if you lose but over perform, your rating can rise.
-Play regularly to keep your rating dynamic and reflective of your current skill!
Newer matches have a bigger impact on your rating than older ones.
17. What happened to my Pickleball Brackets rating?
Pickleball Brackets website became Pickleball.com. When it did this it removed the ability for clubs to track individuals Bracket rating. Unfortunately they left all users around the world with no way to retrieve or continue with the rating system they used. They have changed to more of a Tournament company and now also use DUPR full time for all of their tournament ranking.
